New Scottish National Trampoline, DMT and Tumblning Champions
The Scottish National Trampoline, Tumbling and Double Mini Trampoline (DMT) Championships took place at Bell’s Sports Centre, this weekend (Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 October).
The two-day championship event saw new Scottish Champions crowned across all three disciplines with the DMT champions decided on day one.
National Performance Programme (NPP) DMT gymnast Ciara Donlevy (City of Edinburgh) was crowned Women's Scottish Champion whilst Oscar Birrell (Flyers), who is also in the NPP, was earned the Scottish Men’s Championship title. These Scottish titles were awarded to the top male and female gymnasts that earned the highest cumulative four pass score from the FIG category of the DMT competition.
The Scottish National titles in trampoline were awarded to the gymnasts with the highest total score across the FIG Development and FIG categories. Tiggers Trampoline Club claimed both national trampoline titles on offer as Bethany Craigie earned the Women's championship while club-mate Murray Findlay won the men’s title.
On the tumble track, champions were crowned in both NDP and FIG levels based upon the highest scores across all levels and age groups. Sapphire Gymnastics Club from Maryhill, Glasgow, continued to show themselves as one of Scotland top tumbling clubs with two of their gymnasts earning both Scottish titles. Still riding high from earning her British Championship gold medal last weekend, NPP gymnast Sophie Campbell added the Scottish FIG Tumbling Championship to her list of accolades for this year. Club-mate Emily Haldane performed well to earn the Scottish National NDP Championship.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the championships this weekend, full results will be available here soon!
