Dylan Campbell has been selected to represent Great Britain at the European TeamGym Championships in Portugal.
This will be the third time Dylan from Saltire Team Gymnastics has competed at the Europeans. He is named in the senior mixed team for the championships which take place in Guimares, Portugal between 29 November and 5 December.
At the start of lockdown in 2020, Dylan was one of the top Scottish gymnasts who shared his #ThursdayThoughts on his gymnastics journey leading to representing GB on the world stage in our series on social media. He made the best of a challenging year to continue training given restrictions in the gym.
Dylan will be joined by his coach at Saltire, Sam Hendrikson who has been selected as British team coach travelling with the senior and junior mixed teams. Sam (pictured right in photo) is Scottish Gymnastics head of performance as well as a TeamGym high performance coach. Speaking on their selection, she said:
“I am so proud of Dylan to be selected for his third European TeamGym championships. It has been a challenging year for everyone, however with Covid-19 restrictions limiting Dylan more than any other GB TeamGym gymnast due to restrictions for over 18s and cross local authority travel restrictions in Scotland, he has been self-motivated to keep on top of his home training and cross train to ensure his place in the senior mixed team. He is a fantastic role model for the rest of our club gymnasts.
“I’m delighted to be able to not only go and support Dylan as GB coach but also the full mixed team unit alongside some amazing coaches from across the UK.”
Congratulations to Dylan and Sam on your selection!
