Rhythmic | 2026 Scottish national champions named in Dundee
The 2026 Scottish National Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships took place over the weekend at the Regional Performance Centre, Dundee. Gymnasts competed first for their all-around titles. The top seven junior and senior gymnasts from diamond, gold and silver returning Sunday afternoon for open apparatus finals.
Senior diamond, Cara Mackay came out on top for the third year running, with an all-around score of 92.230. The gymnast from Evoke added to her collection earning the titles for all four apparatus; hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon.
Cara commented: “It’s intense doing eight routines across a weekend. But, I managed to pace myself and have a really good competition.”
In the junior diamond level, Rosie Deighton (Evoke) brought home gold in in the all-around. Her success, like clubmate Cara, didn’t stop there as she won all four further gold medals on offer in the junior finals.
Beacon’s Emilie Findlay retains her Scottish title and took home gold in the gold senior level of the championships.
Espoir group from Pentland took to the floor twice, with a ball routine and free routine, to earn the trophy. The club’s seniors also came out on top with their ball followed by mixed hoop and clubs routines.
City of Glasgow dominated in the disability categories of this year’s championships. In the silver class 1 category, the most senior level on show, senior Grace Moultrie took home the gold for all-around, hoop and clubs.
