Scotland Come Eighth in Austria Future Cup
Scotland’s men’s artistic gymnastics team finished in eight place at the 15th Austrian Future Cup in Linz last Saturday.
The team were up against 26 other teams in a strong international field, with Canada coming out on top, followed by Russia St Petersburg and Japan. The GB team which came fourth included Reuben Ward, the Scottish men’s artistic under 14 all-around champion.
At under 18 level, Cameron Lister from Pipers Vale was ninth in the all around, his score of 70.834 including a third place on vault (13.533) and sixth on pommel horse (11.433)
In the under 16 event, Fraser Griffiths (Woking) finished in seventh place with an all-around score of 72.068, which included a fourth placed finish on pommel horse with 11.967.
In the same age group, Aidan Jordaan from West Lothian was 24th in the all-around with 66.400, and his West Lothian club mate Cameron Lynn was sixth on vault (12.633) contributing to his score of 59.865 which saw him finish in 35th place.
All four gymnasts are part of our National Performance Programme (NPP) which supports gymnasts in their technical development, physical preparation, physiotherapy and nutrition.
Travelling with the gymnasts were John Campbell as head coach, Stephanie Stewart as team manager with Andrew Mackie as a judge.
Performance Manager, Jamie Bowie, said: “It really was a strong development opportunity for gymnasts and coaches in our National Performance Programme to test themselves against gymnasts from some strong gymnastic nations and on the international stage.”
