Special Recognition at the 2019 Scottish Gymnastics Awards
Dan Purvis, Scotland’s most decorated gymnast, is among those being honoured at this year’s Scottish Gymnastics Awards.
Dan will be presented with a special recognition award at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Edinburgh on Saturday 9 November.
He announced his retirement in February calling time on a competitive career during which he excelled at the highest level to become one of Great Britain's most successful athletes. The six-times Scottish and four-times British all-around champion won an historic team bronze at London 2012 Olympic Games, and medals at Commonwealth Games, European and world championships.
Special recognition awards will also be presented to Lynn Simpson and Judy Warrack who are long-serving members of Scottish Gymnastics.
Lynn’s commitment to the sport resulted in her being awarded the British Empire Medal for services to trampolining in the 2019 UK Honours Birthday list. Chair of the trampoline technical panel, she runs Flyers Trampoline club and has coached gymnasts to competitive success this year.
Judy has been a volunteer since the early 1990s when she started helping at Beacon Rhythmic Gymnastics Club. She is a national judge and judging convenor for the Scottish Gymnastics rhythmic gymnastics technical panel, and as a tutor, supports and mentors newly qualified judges.
Join us in celebrating with Dan, Lynn and Judy at the Scottish Gymnastics Awards. The evening begins with a drinks reception at 6.30pm, before a three-course dinner with wine at 7.30pm, followed by the awards ceremony.
Tickets are available at £55 per person subject to availability.
