2017 Trampoline, DMT and Tumbling Championships
The first ever joint national championships for trampoline, double mini trampoline and tumbling brought new and old faces together at the event and on the podium.
The action filled two days at Bell’s Sports Centre in Perth with the DMT championship decided on day one, with the 2016 winners retaining their titles. Kim Beattie who is flying high after being named this week in the GB team for November’s world championships, was crowned women’s champion. The Banchory trampolinist came in ahead of Ciara Donlevy and Caitlin O'Brien, who together will make up three quarters of the senior women’s team at the Loule Cup.
In the men’s competition, Two Foot Higher’s Fraser Mcleod carried his form from last week’s British championships into the Scottish, to retain his title. Last week’s result earned him a place in the world age group championships which also take place in November.
Trampoline saw a clean sweep for Edinburgh Spirals. Kirsten Davie won the women’s championship for the first time while Murray Findlay retained his men’s title, picking up the Tariff and Form cups into the bargain.
Having had their own championships previously, tumbling joined the party this year and really enhanced the spectacle for the audience.
The tumbling champions are crowned in both NDP and FIG levels, based on the highest scores across all levels and age groups. Jump’s Emma Bonner won the NDP title, with Milly Taylor from Sapphire winning the FIG championship.
Speaking about the first joint championship, Lynn Simpson, Chair of the Trampoline and Tumbling Technical Panel said: “Congratulations to all our new champions and their coaches for all their hard work.
“I think the weekend has been an extremely successful. It has been great to have tumble in the championships and made it more of a spectacle and an event.
“This is the best Scottish championships we’ve ever had and we’re not finished yet – this is the first step in our long-term plan to make this event better and better, so look out for 2018!”
