Two Scottish Partnerships Crowned British NDP and IDP Acrobatic Champions
Two Scottish partnerships have been crowned British NDP and IDP Champions at the Acrobatic NDP and IDP Finals at Fenton Manor, Stoke-on-Trent, 19-20th May. A further six medals were won by Scots gymnasts, bringing the final medal tally to eight.
The IDP Mixed Pairs competition saw Scotland take the IDP British title as Cameron Rooney and Eve MacFarlane (pictured) of East Kilbride Gymnastics Club scored 51.820 to take the gold medal from Luke Faulkner and Emma Young of Bromley Valley Gymnastics Centres who scored 51.700 in a very close competition.
Mia Logan and Sophie Humphries (pictured below) from Acrobay became British NDP Champions on Saturday when they scored 27.500 to take the Grade 3 Women’s Pairs title, and the gold medal, ahead of Sophie Duffield & Ashleigh Tobin from Wakefield Gym Club who scored 27.350.
Acrobay partnerships of Eve Gillies and Kayla Ballantyne took the silver medal in the Grade 5 Women’s Pairs competition with a score of 52.500, only 0.300 away from the gold medal. Their club mates Lewis Cullen-Young and Katie Hendry, competing in Grade 4 Mixed Pairs, took the other Scottish silver medal on a score of 27.100.
In the Grade 3 Men’s Pair event City of Glasgow’s Angus Davidson and Ciaran Crumlish took bronze with a score of 25.950. More bronze medals then came from the Grade 5 Mixed Pair of Steven Gray and Lauren Mulgrew, from Linlithgow, who scored 50.800 as well as the Acrobay group of Amy Middleton, Eve Ormiston and Hannah Johnston who were competing in the Grade 4 Mixed Group competition, they took the bronze medal on a score of 27.150. Fellow Acrobay gymnasts Emma Nelson and Emma Stollery also took bronze, they scored 27.400 in the Grade 1 Women’s Pairs.
Chair of the Acrobatic Technical Panel, Andy Youl, commented on the achievements of all the partnerships competing this weekend: “Congratulations to all the gymnasts and the coaches of the partnerships that took part in this weekends NDP and IDP British Championships. They all done, their clubs and coaches proud with some really great performances
