The Foundation Coach credential is for those wanting to take on the responsibility of leading gymnastics sessions and programmes. Independent Delivery refers to an individuals ability to look after children without the need to be supervised by a more qualified person.

A Foundation Coach will be able to lead sessions in the same way that a Level 2 coach and Gymnastics Activity Instructors can.

Foundation Coach is made up of two parts:

  1. Leading Gymnastics Sessions, and the
  2. Independent Delivery Assessment

Learners must complete Leading Gymnastics Sessions before they can begin their Independent Delivery Assessment.


Leading Gymnastics Sessions

To enrol on Leading Gymnastics Sessions, you must hold a Level 1 Award or be an Assistant Foundation Coach and must be 18 or over.

Leading Gymnastics Sessions is an online self-paced course and takes approximately 8 hours to complete.

It is progressive from the training provided in Assistant Foundation Coach, focusing on the responsibilities of a Lead Coach in Duty of Care, supervising large groups, leading coaching teams, communicating with wider stakeholder groups and planning.

Content is aligned to the CIMSPA Professional Standard for Coach.
