Women’s Artistic Lead Coach Appointed
Becki Campbell has been appointed lead coach of Scottish Gymnastics women’s artistic programme.
A high-performance coach, Becki is head coach at West Lothian Artistic Gymnastics Club and became a Scottish Gymnastics pathway development coach in December 2019. Throughout the pandemic, Becki has been part of the team which brought Brilliant Basics to life through videos for use by coaches and by gymnasts at home. She will continue with some elements of her pathway role to support the development of a positive and collaborative culture across the women’s artistic pathway.
Becki will work with and be mentored by Scott Hann who leads the artistic gymnastics national performance programme in a new approach in which men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics share a culture of excellence and national training sessions.
Speaking on her appointment, Becki said:
I am delighted to have been appointed as the women’s artistic lead coach and feel very fortunate to be in a position to be mentored and guided by Scott. I look forward to supporting our amazing team of coaches and gymnasts and creating a collaborative culture within Scottish Gymnastics.
Artistic gymnastics national lead, Scott Hann MBE, said: “I’m extremely excited to work with Becki on delivering a modern, forward-thinking, athlete-centred programme and mentoring her and the coaching team to become the best coaches and leaders they can be.
“It’s an exciting time for Scottish Gymnastics and the gymnasts involved on the performance programmes and I am honoured to be a part of this pioneering approach.”
Scottish Gymnastics performance manager, Jamie Bowie, added: “As we look towards our first training camp of the artistic gymnastics national performance programme, it is really exciting to have Becki join the team and to be leading that first camp alongside Scott.
“Becki will bring her strong leadership skills and the experiences from her own coaching journey, which included time in Australia, to this key role within the national programme. This appointment builds on the world-class support that both gymnasts and coaches have on their performance journey.”
Recruitment for the lead coach for men’s artistic to work alongside Scott and Becki will be completed later in the year.
