Scotland’s Gymnasts Win Eight Medals at British Championships

Scotland’s gymnasts won a total of eight medals at the 2024 Acrobatic, Aerobic and Rhythmic British Championships over the weekend. Two golds, four silvers and a bronze medal in the acrobatic competition plus one bronze in the rhythmic competition made up the tally in Telford.
Acrobatic
In the women’s group 11-16 competition Acrobay Gymnastics Club gymnasts placed in first, second and fourth place. Following on from their victories at the 2024 Scottish National Acrobatic Championships and Caledonia International earlier this year, Imara Beattie, Lily McHale and Khloe Cameron earned the gold medal with a score of 53.000. The performance pathway programme gymnasts (PPP) were joined on the podium by Skye Archibald, Kamila Denicka and Roxie Kemp who scored 52.400. Emma Burns, Georgia Haddow and Alana McClymont narrowly missed out on the bronze medal with a score of 51.950.
Scotland’s first medal of the weekend came from Olivia Smith and Macey Dayer in the women’s pair 11-16 competition. The Kilmarnock Acrobatic Gymnastics Club gymnasts won with a score of 49.450.
In the women’s group seniors competition Karla Hillcoat, Tia Kidd and Emillie Keenan from Dynamic Gymnastics Academy won the gold medal with a score of 26.080. Karla, Tia and Emillie’s success is great recognition for the hard work they have put in on the national performance programme (NPP).
Dynamic’s Beth Gilroy, Lily Schoneville and Amelia Davidson earned the silver medal in the women’s group 12-18 competition with a score of 27.550. This continues a successful year for the performance pathway group having won gold medals earlier this year at the 2024 Scottish National Acrobatic Championships and Caledonia International.
In the women’s group 13-19 competition Acrobay Gymnastics Club and NPP gymnasts Ella Gracie, Emma Nelson and Scarlett Haldane won the bronze medal with a score of 28.330, missing out on silver by 0.040 and gold by 0.270.
Dynamic’s NPP gymnasts Emma Logan and Gemma Russell score of 27.000 earned them silver in the women’s pair seniors’ competition.
Rhythmic
In the rhythmic senior competition, Cara Mackay from Evoke Gymnastics Club won the bronze medal on Sunday in the ribbon final with a score of 23.400. The NPP gymnast finished in eighth place the previous day in the all-around competition with a score of 89.650.
