Artistic | Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games Team Announced
Team Scotland has named nine gymnasts for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
Gold Coast 2018 bronze medallist Hamish Carter returns for a third Games. He is joined by Birmingham 2022 teammates Cameron Lynn and Pavel Karnejenko. The 2026 Scottish all-around champion Reuben Ward and 2026 British Universities (BUCS) all-around champion Connor Sullivan complete the team.
Selected as men’s captain on day one of camp, Cameron commented: “We are really striving for team success this summer. With me as a captain I feel like one, I need to lead by example and two, home in on that team environment.”
The women’s team sees all four gymnasts compete at this level for the first time. It features Scottish all-around champions Ellee Cheetham (2026) Crystelle Lake (2025), and Lottie Smith (2023). Ava MacFarlane, Northern European Championships medallist, completes the line-up.
Crystelle, who is leading the team, said: “We’ve got such a nice team of girls. I’m honoured to be the captain and guide them through the Games.”
Elinor Middlemiss MBE, Team Scotland Chef de Mission, said: “We’re delighted to announce our gymnastics team, which has a fantastic blend of experience and those competing for Team Scotland for the first time. Glasgow 2026 is a great opportunity to show what they can do on the big stage. I’m confident all nine gymnasts will perform to their best, buoyed by an enthusiastic home support.”
The Captains

The coaches chose the team captains based on the personality and experience of the gymnasts needed to blend the group of gymnasts. They are also a link between the gymnasts’ voice and the coaching team, and prepare the gymnasts to be a part of Team Scotland.
After naming Cameron and Crystelle, Scottish Gymnastics artistic director, Scott Hann MBE said: “It is a big job. You have to be able to be there for your team. Be the communicator and let the coaches know if there’s anything we need to step up with or be aware of. But ultimately you are going to lead your team out to the Games.”
Staff and Support Team
Heading the coaching team are men’s and women’s artistic lead coaches, Marius Gherman and Grace Lyman. Jake Seager and Brett Ince assist them, with further support from John Campbell and national artistic director Scott Hann MBE.
Jamie Bowie returns as team manager for his third Games with gymnastics. As a former Games athlete himself and Scottish Gymnastics performance manager, he brings vast experience and knowledge to support the team. Catriona Sloan, who has supported our performance pathway for over three years, is the team physiotherapist.
“Wonderful Experience”
Scottish Gymnastics lead performance manager, Kenny More said: “Scottish Gymnastics ran a selection period from May 2025 to April 2026 within which gymnasts had the opportunity to achieve qualification standards agreed with Team Scotland. The attitude and focus of the gymnasts throughout were impressive, as well as real camaraderie as they all strove for those standards. At the conclusion of that period, we were delighted to nominate nine gymnasts to Team Scotland.
“We have now moved into a series of five preparation camps with the intention of maximising individual and team performances at the Games. Our selected gymnasts and coaches will make the most of the excellent environment at Inverclyde to build momentum to our first competition day on July 24.
“Everyone at Scottish Gymnastics wishes the gymnasts and coaches well. We hope they enjoy the wonderful experience of being part of Team Scotland and they come out of the Games with no regrets, having done everything they could to represent themselves, their club and their sport.”
The Games officially open on July 23, with artistic gymnastics events taking place from 24 to 28 July. Find the full programme and all the latest Glasgow 2026 news using the buttons below.
