Scottish Gymnastics Partners with Loganair
Loganair, the UK’s leading regional airline, has become the official airline partner of Scottish Gymnastics in a new three-year partnership.
Flight support will help island families and athletes reach national events, and give Scottish Gymnastics staff a more direct route into island clubs for coaching and development. The partnership begins as artistic gymnastics prepares to feature at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games this summer.
Supporting members
This partnership will help families and athletes reach events such as the UK’s biggest display event Gymfest. It also supports coaches and volunteers travelling to development activity on the mainland.
Scottish Gymnastics will receive travel support allowing coaches to deliver services across the isles and helping more young people get into the sport. The sport’s island clubs in Orkney, Shetland, Lewis and Uist will also receive additional support on top of the existing Air Discount Scheme. A named lead booker at each club will be able to book this.
Lyn MacDonald, director of marketing, communications and product at Loganair, said: “Talent and ambition can be found in every part of Scotland, and a gymnast growing up on one of the islands should feel that national opportunities are within reach.
“Through this partnership, Loganair is proud to help Scottish Gymnastics create more moments for young island athletes to train, compete and be inspired alongside their peers. We’re looking forward to seeing how that support helps talent develop over the next three years.”
Doc McKelvey, Scottish Gymnastics chief executive, said: “Scotland’s island clubs are home to dedicated gymnasts, coaches and volunteers, and this partnership gives us a stronger platform to support their development.
“With Loganair’s support, we can provide further access for island members to take part in national events and development activities. It also allows our own staff to spend more time with clubs across the isles. Over the next three years, we want to see that opportunity translate into more island gymnasts progressing through the sport.”
