Independent Delivery Assessment is part two of the Foundation Coach qualification.
To book on you’ll need to:
- be 18 years at the point of booking
- have a current PVG disclosure through Scottish Gymnastics
- have completed Leading Gymnastics Sessions
- have found a Independent delivery Assessor
Once you have completed your course you are required to have Scottish Gymnastics Gold Membership and a Scottish Gymnastics wellbeing and protection award to be deployed within a member club.
Assessment:
Learners will need to complete a series of tasks and will be assessed by an assessor. Once the assessor believes the learner has met essential standards, the learner will submit assessment evidence for quality assurance checks – and if quality standards are met the learner will pass their Independent Delivery Assessment and will be awarded with the Foundation Coach credential.
To support us in ensuring quality standards British Gymnastics are working in partnership with CIMSPA – the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity, and with UK Coaching to ensure we have the highest quality processes, supporting quality gymnastics delivery whilst meeting our objectives of accessible and authentic training opportunities.
The Foundation Coach (awarded after successful completion of this assessment) credential enables a coach to take on more responsibility. It does not allow a coach to teach harder gymnastics skills.
Independent Assessor
Our vision is that every club has at least one independent delivery assessor who has completed the training via the hub. To be an independent delivery assessor, you must be:
- 18 years old or above AND
- Hold a Level 2 or equivalent or above coaching qualification
- The role must be added to your MyBG profile.
The Assessing Independent Delivery Information Hub provides those coaches who will be conducting the Foundation Coach Independent Delivery Assessments with training and information. Club managers can also access this hub too.
