Acrobatic | Performance Programme Partnerships 2023
Following this year’s Scottish Acrobatic Invitational, Scottish Gymnastics has named 27 acrobatic partnerships selected for the performance programmes across three levels in 2023.
The acrobatic performance programmes work towards providing opportunities across all levels to support selected gymnasts and coaches in developing the basic skills needed to help them to progress through the pathway and achieve success at national competitions or British Gymnastics selections events.
To drive the development, the programmes are designed and lead by national technical lead, Ian Said with the support of physical preparation consultant, Paul Coyle. The pathway programmes are based on a culture of hard work, continuous improvement, taking ownership and embracing challenge and setbacks.
Introduced in 2021, the development level of the programme makes up the largest portion of the 2023 pathway, with 12 partnerships selected including two partnerships who have been re-selected at this level.
There has been progression between levels for three partnerships, and seven partnerships have been re-selected at their current level across the performance pathway programme and national performance programme.
Scottish Gymnastics performance manager, Wendy Purdie said:
We are pleased to continue to offer acrobatic performance camps for selected gymnasts this year. The value of our programmes, and the technical expertise of our coaching team is clear, with partnerships becoming British champions and international medallists in the last year. We look forward to seeing the gymnasts collaborate and engage with the programmes to learn from each other and continue to grow in 2023.
