Acrobatic | European Championships Selection for 5 Scots
Five acrobatic gymnasts from Scotland have been selected to represent Great Britain at the 2023 European Acrobatic Championships which are being held in Varna, Bulgaria from 18 to 20 October.
Both partnerships won medals at the recent British Championships and will be joining the 18-strong junior team. The Scots will be making their European Championship debut after successful international appearances representing both Great Britain and Scotland at previous events in their careers.

Dynamic’s 13-19 women’s pair of Emma Logan and Gemma Russell, coached by Michelle Diniz came away as British Champions back in July, with a nail-biting conclusion to the competition and a 0.100 execution score deciding the medals in the combined routine. Last year, the duo won silver at the 5th Budapest International Acrobatic Cup, moving into the junior age group for the first time this year.
Experienced gymnasts Nephele Idehen and Daisy Campbell, who represented GB at the 2022 Rzeszow International Acrobatic Cup and won bronze at the Budapest International Acro Cup in the same year as a pair return for a second GB call up, this time as a trio with teammate Molly McHale. The Acrobay trio have been working on brilliant basics and technical skills as part of our national performance programme, and this will be a first international outing for the new partnership.
Suzanne Fraser, Head Coach at Acrobay said, “The girls were in one of the hardest categories and fought tooth and nail through all of the selection process. We are all delighted of the outcome and are extremely proud of what they have achieved in such a short time together as a trio.”
“We wish them and everyone selected to the GB team the best for the European Championships.”

A full team of 32 gymnasts will be heading to Varna as part of the GBR delegation and we look forward to following competition across the junior and senior events over the four days of competition.
During the selection process, Acrobay trio Emma Nelson, Scarlett Haldane and Ella Gracie were also selected as non-travelling reserves for the European Champioships, meaning they have an international competition opportunity for GB when they compete at the Gutenberg Cup in Germany from 27 to 29 October.
Congratulations to the gymnasts and their coaches on the selection for the competition.
You will be able to follow updates from the competitions in October on our social media channels, with the European Championships streamed live via Smartscoring and Eurovision.
