Artistic | 12 Selected for 2023 Northern European Championships
Twelve men’s and women’s artistic gymnasts have been selected to represent Scotland at the 2023 Northern European Championships which take place in Halmstad, Sweden from 23-26 November.
The team combines the experience of senior gymnasts who made up part of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games team, as well as national champions and up and coming talent from our performance programmes.
The competition is a fantastic opportunity for gymnasts to compete as part of an international delegation and benchmark their performance against home nations gymnasts as well as those from the likes of Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Finland and hosts, Sweden.
Scotland’s recent history at the Northern European Championships includes last year’s successful visit to the competition in Jyväskylä, Finland where the team secured five medals, including a team silver, building on the bronze from the competition in Cardiff in 2019.
There was also individual success for West Lothian teammates, Cameron Lynn and Euan McLellan who won three apparatus medals between them and are returning to the competition this year.
The team for the event were selected based on scores achieved at recent competition, including both the Scottish and British Championships, and control competitions as part of national performance programme camps in July and August.
We’re excited to follow the team’s journey as they prepare for the competition and congratulate the following gymnasts and their personal coaches for their selection:

We are thrilled to have selected one of our largest teams of artistic gymnasts for the 2023 Northern European Championships. Having seen the standard of performance within our programmes, it is great to be able to continue to provide competitive opportunities to those on our pathways and build on their individual and team successes, as well as increase their exposure to the international stage.
