Adults | Scots make podiums at 2025 Adult Gymnastics British Championships
Scottish gymnasts and clubs bring home a haul of medals in acrobatics, trampoline, tumbling, women’s and men’s artistic at the 2025 Adult Gymnastics British Championships in Lilleshall National Sports Centre.
The adult British championships hosted over 400 gymnasts across the five disciplines last weekend at the British national training centre. All disciplines are open to anyone aged 18 or over with categories catering for beginner to pro.
Trampoline
Sparta’s safeguarding officer and club treasurer Amanda O’Donohue competed in the championships for the second time this year. Like many, Amanda participated in the sport as a young child and again throughout university. Three children and purchasing a garden trampoline for them years later, she enrolled her kids at the local club to learn the sport safely. After some time at the club, Amanda noticed they ran an adult class with a real mix of ages and abilities, not just teenagers.
Amanda’s two trampoline routines placed her top of the table securing her gold in the novice over 40’s category. Speaking about the competition she said:
“I thoroughly enjoyed it though and relished the challenge. I was happy to get through both routines without falling off, and winning a medal was an absolute unexpected bonus.”

Acrobatics
Taylor Stirling and Amy Wright competed as independent entrants to this championships. Their successful combined routine meant they brought home the gold medal in the mixed pairs category.
Edinburgh University entered several gymnasts across the disciplines. Some started the sport at university for the first time to those that were formerly in the competitive pathway. Club president Grace Williams noted the benefits the students gain from practicing the sport alongside their studies commenting:
“It’s a great way to make friends, de-stress from studies, and be part of a supportive, fun community.
“All while staying active while getting the chance to tumble and flip. Plus, being able to improve your strength and flexibility.”

The university club entered several acrobatic partnerships with their men’s four (combined) consisting of Matthew MacIntosh, Connor Byrn, Neil McCallum, & Aaron Walker earning gold. This top performance and those listed below lead them each to bring home an additional bronze medal in the acrobatic team event.
The following partnerships from Edinburgh University earned bronze in their respective categories:
Mixed pair (balance & dynamic) | Mathew MacIntosh & Grace Williams
Women’s group (balance & dynamic) | Ffreuer Jones, Lucy Willis, & Kyla Jordan
Women’s group (combined) | Zoe Bradford, Grace Williams, & Aisling Hurley
In the men’s artistic over 30’s pro category Neil McCallum (Edinburgh University) placed second all-around with floor and vault being his top scoring pieces.
The following gymnasts finished top eight in their respective discipline and category:
Trampoline
Nicola Orr | Sparta | women’s pro over 40 | fourth
Grace Williams | Edinburgh University | women’s novice over 18 | eighth
Tumbling
Aaron Walker | Edinburgh University | men’s novice 18-39 | sixth
It not only brought multiple disciplines together but a range of ages and abilities. Both Grace and Amanda commented on it being a positive atmosphere with everyone cheering and clapping regardless of club. The event showcases everything our vision stands for and provided an uplifting experience for all.
Congratulations to all gymnasts and clubs that competed at this year’s championships.
