Artistic | Women’s Classic Challenge and Men’s Grades Finals 2022
Men's and women's artistic gymmasts representing the Scotland region won four medals at regional finals events between 9 and 11 December 2022.
In the women's artistic classic challenge championships in Guildford, Megan Coyle (City of Edinburgh), Alethea Klopper (Garioch), Kira Sharp (East Kilbride), Lisa McMonagle (Dynamic and City of Aberdeen's Victoria May Melville and Emma Kelsey won the team silver medal at silver level.
Alethea Klopper also won individual gold for her floor routine, thanks to her score of 12.500. There was an impressive vault performance by Victoria May Melville who finished in fourth place, just 0.050 behind the medalists.
At bronze level, Arbroath gymnast, Milly Creswell won an individual bronze medal on the beam, and the team finished in fifth place overall. At gold level, Natalie Scott from City of Glasgow finished in joint third place to win bronze alongside Freya Evans from Llaneli Gymnastics Club in Wales and the team finished in fourth place.
In the men's club development and national elite grades final, 21 scottish gymnasts competed across seven grades in Telford. In a return to the normal levels of competitors at this competition, the scottish gymnasts faced a tough competition. The club development grade team finished in tenth place (pictured) with the grade two team finishing in eighth. In club grade two, Ramsay Milloy scored a perfect 10.000 for his floor routine, which is a great achievement for the gymnast.
Becki Campbell, Scottish Gymnastics artistic performance manager said: "It has been great to see the men's and women's teams competing this weekend, and building on the success of last year's medals at these competitions. The gymnasts representing the scottish region have shown excellent strength and depth with top level results across all age groups".
