DMT | Gymnasts Selected for Performance Programmes for 2022-23
Scottish Gymnastics has selected the 25 gymnasts for the double mini-trampoline performance programmes for 2022-23, with five gymnasts also selected for British squads.
Following her recent team medal at the World Championships in Sofia, Banchory’s Kim Beattie is re-selected for the British Gymnastics senior squad, with club mate Ava Fettes and Ethan Cunningham from JUMP re-selected to the senior development squad. Paige Russell from JUMP and Riley Summers (Scotia) have been named in the junior squad for the first time.
The Scottish Gymnastics DMT performance pathway programme (PPP) and national performance programme (NPP) are designed to align with the British Gymnastics performance pathway and support the development of FIG level gymnasts. Recent successes and GB selections for programme gymnasts to represent at the World Championships and World Age Group Competitions demonstrate the programmes have been contributing to gymnasts’ development in Scotland.
Melanie Stewart-Wills is providing technical leadership for both programmes in 2023 as national technical lead, supported by physical preparation consultant, Paul Coyle.
The gymnasts were selected following an application process and profiling day, held in Kirkcaldy on Sunday 27 November.
Wendy Purdie, Scottish Gymnastics performance manager said:
The calibre of skills and progression on the programmes over the last year are testament to the hard work from the gymnasts and coaches. With a focus on brilliant basics and setting personal targets, the selected gymnasts have the opportunity to develop and learn from others where they are encouraged to overcome challenges.
