Awards | New Honorary Life Members
Five Scottish Gymnastics members have been granted honorary life membership after receiving lifetime achievement awards at the Scottish Gymnastics Awards.
The long-serving members were honoured in 2023 and 2024 in recognition of their services across disciplines and levels of gymnastics.
Maggie Bisset, Liz Danby, Margaret Kerr, and John Wills received their award last year, and Mike McGhee this year, for their service at different levels across gymnastics disciplines. Robert Callahan MBE and Jean Callahan were also honoured in 2024 but had previously been made life members for services to Scottish Gymnastics.
The Scottish Gymnastics board approved a proposal earlier this year to grant honorary membership to those who receive a lifetime achievement award. Recipients no longer pay annual fees and have individual member voting rights at the annual general meeting.
Head of operations Lara Gregson said: “We are delighted to recognise these members in this way. They have given so much to gymnasts and the sport over many decades.
“Our honorary life members can cast a vote at the annual general meeting. With their years of experience, they can have their say on how gymnastics is run in Scotland. We are grateful for what they have done over the years and look forward to their continued contribution to the sport.”
