Birmingham 2022 | Watch, Share & Get Involved
We’re building up to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, with the thrilling competition getting underway from 28 July to 8 August. Excitement is growing for the artistic and rhythmic gymnastics competitions with some of the UK’s best gymnasts competing for the home nations, including Scotland.
Gymnasts selected to compete represent a wide spread across the home nations of England, Gibraltar, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, with a mix of experience levels including some familiar faces from previous major Games. To help you prepare to follow the action and support the athletes, we’ve put together a guide to the competition at Arena Birmingham over the next two weeks, including details of how you can watch, share and get involved!
Live Coverage from the BBC
BBC Sport and BBC Scotland will be showing a variety of competition from across the Games in Birmingham. Although specific timings for sports and sessions which will be covered are still to be confirmed, there will than 200 hours of action, across up to 11 live streams on the BBC Red Button – giving you the opportunity to watch plenty of medal winning moments live!

Gymnastics Schedule
The competition is split across eight exciting days of competition, with artistic gymnasts taking to the floor first, followed by the rhythmic gymnasts in Birmingham a few days later.
We now have the confirmed schedule, which will let you know where you can watch the Team Scotland gymnasts compete, as well as when the other home nations will be competing too. We’ve also picked out some ‘ones to watch’ from the other nations too!
Friday 29 July
Men’s Artistic Team Final & Individual Qualification
Session 1: 9.00-11.00 (Subdivision 1)
*Team Jersey
Session 1: 12.00-14.45 (Subdivision 2)

Session 2: 17.30-21.15 (Subdivision 3)
*Team England and Team Scotland
Ones to watch: Team England will be hoping to reclaim the gold they won at Gold Coast 2018 in the men’s team competition, with Courtney Tulloch and James Hall returning to the competition alongside Joe Fraser, Jake Jarman and Giarnni Regini-Morgan. Team Scotland will also be looking to replicate the success of 2018 where they won the team bronze medal.
Saturday 30 July
Women’s Artistic Team Final & Individual Qualification
Session 1: 9.00-10.30 (subdivision 1)
Session 1: 12.00-13.30 (subdivision 2)

Ones to watch: Four-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Claudia Fragapane returns with Team England alongside Olympic team bronze medallist Alice Kinsella. Returning for her third senior Games, and fourth Commonwealth appearance for Team Scotland, Cara Kennedy will be looking to compete strong alongside 2018 teammate Shannon Archer.
Sunday 31 July
Men’s and Women’s Individual All-Around Finals
Session 1: 9.00-12.00 men’s artistic individual all-around final
Session 2: 14.30-17.30 women’s artistic individual all-around final
Ones to watch: Keep an eye out for England’s Alice Kinsella and James Hall who will be looking to make a second all-around medal at the Commonwealth Games after 2018 as well as Australia’s Georgia Godwin. 2022 Scottish National Champion Pavel Karnejenko will be looking for a strong all-around performance in qualification too, and could make it to the final.
Monday 1 August
Men’s and Women’s Apparatus Finals
13.00-17.00
Men’s: floor, pommel horse, rings
Women’s: vault, uneven Bars
Ones to watch: Rhys McClenaghan (Northern Ireland) will be hoping to retain his pommel horse title from his last games appearance. We’ll also see Giarnni Regini-Morgan take to the floor, as well as Scotland’s Hamish Carter looking to make it to the finals in Birmingham.
Tuesday 2 August
Men’s and Women’s Apparatus Finals
13.00-17.00
Men’s: vault, parallel bars, high bar
Women’s: beam, floor
Ones to watch: Frank Baines will be looking to make it to the parallel bars to compete in the hopes of upgrading his 2018 bronze medal.
Thursday 4 August
Rhythmic Team Final and Individual Qualification
Session 1: 12.00-15.30 (subdivision 1)
*Team England, Team Gibraltar and Team Scotland
Session 2: 18.00-21.45 (subdivision 2)
*Team Wales
Ones to watch: Louise Christie will be making her Commonwealth debut for Team Scotland – the first rhythmic gymnast to make it to the Games since Glasgow 2014 – and will be hoping to secure Scotland’s first rhythmic medal since 1994. 2022 British Champion Marfa Ekimova will also be competing for Team England.
Friday 5 August
