Scottish Acrobatic FIG Championships 2019
The 2019 FIG Scottish National Acrobatic Championships were held at Ravenscraig Regional Sports Complex on Saturday 8 June.
Of the 39 partnerships that took part 13 partnerships are part of the National Performance Programme or Performance Pathway Programme which provides gymnasts with the opportunity to benefit from a series of camps and coaching clinics led by the National Technical Lead, Ian Said.
In a competitive 11-16 Women’s Pairs competition Eve Gillies and Sophie Humphries from Acrobay Gymnastics Trust earned the Scottish Championship title with a final score of 54.996. Their club-mates Erin Bailey, Olivia Keir and Kayla Ballantyne won the Scottish title in the 11-16 Women’s Group competition (53.764) with Ellie Horstmann, Rebecca Stewart and Scarlett Haldane, also from Acrobay, earning the top spot on the 12-18 Women’s Group category (53.942).
In the Women’s 13-19 Group competition Eilidh Steven, Cara Bustard and Olivia Clark (East Kilbride Gymnastics Club) won the gold medal and the Scottish Championship title on a combined score of 25.889
The trio Evie Wise, Sophie Blood and Bethany Carlyle from Dynamic Gymnastics Academy earned the Scottish Championship title in the Youth Women’s Group with a combined score of 24.665. Kerry Gibson and Cara Blaney from Ayrshire Acrobatic won the IDP Women’s Pairs (23.029)
In the mixed pairs categories Matthew Cassidy and Katie Mabon, from Kilmarnock, won the Youth section (23.800) with Alex Morgan & Mia Blair from Spectrum winning the 11-16 age group (51.631). Kingston’s David Arendarik and Jasmine Campbell won gold in the 13-19 Mixed Pairs on 49.925.
In Women’s Pairs Allie Slivinski and Emily Penny from Spectrum won the Youth section (22.400) with Emma McConville and Emma McConnell from Dynamic winning the 12-18 age group with a final score of 48.927.
In the Senior Women’s Group, the Acrobay trio of Erin Henderson, Sacha Muir and Chloe Rowlands performed two beautiful routines to earn 56.771 and the gold medal, it was their combined performance that closed the competition that stole the show, earning 29.166! The huge score filling the trio with confidence ahead of the European Championships in Minsk where they have been selected to represent Team GB.
Acrobay won the team championship on a total score of 141.145 with East Kilbride taking silver (131.357) and Dynamic earning bronze (123.418)
