Lynn Simpson Awarded BEM
Scottish Gymnastics member Lynn Simpson has been awarded the British Empire Medal for services to trampolining.
Lynn was named in the UK Honours Birthday list which recognises the work of volunteers and people working in sport, physical activity and recreation in Scotland.
Lynn is head coach of Flyers Trampoline Club and the chair of the Scottish Gymnastics trampoline, DMT, and tumbling technical panel. Away from gymnastics, she is also a solicitor, working as a senior associate in a leading law firm.
Speaking about her honour, Lynn said: “It’s fantastic. It was an absolute shock when I found out, but it’s wonderful to be recognised for the work I’ve done over the last 16 years with trampolining.
“It all started because I love the sport. I really enjoy working with young kids and helping them achieve what they want to achieve in their sporting endeavours. Joining the panel was the next step, in wanting to help improve things for the kids and our sport. It all snowballed from there, and I didn’t know I would become so involved time-wise and in my role as chair, but I’m really proud of what we’ve achieved and there is still lots to be done.”
Congratulations to Lynn Simpson BEM!
