What year was the first Gymfest you went to?
1990 – as a Gymnast / 2016 – as a head coach
How many Gymfests have you attended?
As a Gymnast only one that I remember as there’s photographic evidence (may have been more). With my club I’ve been to six.
What are some of your favourite Gymfest memories?
I don’t have many memories as an eight year old gymnast at Gymfest in 1990 but those experiences must have had an impact on me as I went onto become a qualified gymnastics coach, build a club and offer gymnasts the opportunity to be part of a display team.
I know my gymnasts and display coaches have some amazing memories of every Gymfest they’ve attended, each one different and memorable in its own way.
It’s such a great atmosphere, everyone has fun and there’s no pressure of competition. I hope that giving gymnasts similar experiences and opportunities that they may also be inspired to make a career from coaching.
What is your favourite Gymfest routine you have ever seen?
Spartans always put on an amazing show but there’s nothing better than watching your own team perform at an event.
