Gymnasts Selected to Represent GB on World Stage
Two Scottish double-mini trampoline (DMT) gymnasts have been selected to represent Great Britain at the World Championships and World Age Group Competition in Tokyo, Japan from Thursday 28 November to Sunday 8 November.
Kim Beattie from Banchory Trampoline and DMT Club will represent Great Britain for the third successive year at the world championship event having competed last year in Russia and coming home with team silver from Bulgaria in 2017. Kim, who is also a Scottish Gymnastics gymnast ambassador, has just returned from representing Great Britain at the DMT World Cup in Valladolid, Spain last weekend where she finished a respectable sixth place after earning a silver medal at the British Championships the weekend before.
Newly crowned Scottish women’s DMT champion, Ciara Donlevy from City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club (pictured) has been selected in the 17 – 21 age category in the World Age Group Competition. The 21-year-old, who is studying physiotherapy at Robert Gordon University, has previously represented Great Britain in this event in 2015 in Denmark.
The DMT duo will be joined by British elite level women 11-12 tumbling champion Sophie Campbell from Sapphire Gymnastics Club who was selected earlier in the year for the Tumbling World Age Group Championships in the girls 11-12 competition, also in Tokyo. Sophie’s club-mate Darci Tierney is selected as first reserve for the girls 13-14 competition.
Congratulations to all the gymnasts who have been selected to compete on the world stage!
