Scotland Shines in Portugal at Scalabis Cup 2019
Scotland’s trampoline, double-mini trampoline and tumbling gymnasts came home with nine medals from the 2019 Loulé Cup in Portugal.
This was the first time Scotland has competed in tumbling and DMT at this event and the team was rewarded for its hard work with impressive results which sparked positive feedback from other nations’ coaches and officials.
Wendy Purdie, Scottish Gymnastics Performance Manager for non-Oympic disciplines, said:
“Congratulations to everyone who competed and especially the medal winners. This was an important development opportunity for all the gymnasts and gave them a good insight into representing their country in an international team event.
“What struck me watching the event was that all our gymnasts looked really happy which was great to see, that they were well-prepared and not phased by competing at international level.
“I would like to give a special thank you to our three national technical leads and assistant technical lead who gave up their own time to travel with the team. We introduced performance pathway programmes across the three disciplines this year, which they lead, and it’s tremendous that they voluntarily went along as head coaches to guide the gymnasts through the competition.”
Congratulations to all the gymnasts, selected team coaches, personal coaches, judges and team managers. The medal winners from the event on 11 and 12 October are:
