My Voice Matters | Annual Report 2024-25
Scottish Gymnastics is committed to making sure that everyone in our community feels safe, heard, valued, and supported.
To help us do that, we created a four-year wellbeing and safe sport strategic framework with the help of members in 2024. My Voice Matters outlines what we are doing to ensure wellbeing and safe sport is the golden thread through everything we do. We want every child, young person, and adult to understand what safe sport should look like and feel like.
We wanted to share the progress we have made in the first year of delivery. The report shows not only what we have achieved together with clubs and partner organisations, but why this work matters.
Year One Activity
Gymnasts continue to tell us that they enjoy their sport, feel included, and feel safe in their clubs. Parents and carers share strong confidence in the experience we provide. Coaches and volunteers remain dedicated to creating positive and protective environments. There has been a growth in education and in the uptake of the club portal.
We also recognise where progress must continue as we build stronger foundations for long-term change. From improving visibility of safeguarding officers, strengthening reporting systems, to supporting clubs through safe sport visits.
Scottish Gymnastics head of wellbeing and safe sport Lindsey Booth said: “We wanted to share our progress so members can see clearly what we’re doing and why. Our team is working proactively across safe sport to create a lasting culture change. We want to banish the impression that safeguarding is a reactive and negative part of sport.
“We are working closer with clubs, and they have been so positive in ensuring everyone feels safe. They see the value of being proactive and embedding good practice. We will continue to work with more clubs through our safe club support visits and the club portal to help them address any concerns among their members.
“We remain focused on listening more closely, supporting more effectively, and challenging ourselves to do better. My voice matters. Your voice matters. Every voice matters.”
