Meet Our New Directors
We are delighted to welcome three new board directors following our recent AGM.
James Hall has been appointed as technical director. James is an elite British gymnast with over a decade of international experience, having represented Great Britain at five European Championships, five World Championships, two Commonwealth Games, and an Olympic Games. During his career he has been fortunate enough to achieve European and Commonwealth golds as well as a bronze world medal, to name a few.
Alongside his athletic career, he currently serves as the Chair of the Gymnast Advisory Panel for British Gymnastics which has allowed him to represent athletes in key decision-making processes, ensuring their voices are heard in areas such as policy development and the sport’s overall direction. He intends to continue this approach within Scottish Gymnastics.

Louise Mearns has been appointed as general director and brings a wealth of experience in sports sponsorship professional with over a decade of experience collaborating with globally recognised brands and agencies across the UK, Europe, and Australia. Currently an account director at M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment, Louise has led high-profile campaigns for prominent clients and has been instrumental in strategic initiatives like O2’s partnership with England Rugby and the Team GB and ParalympicsGB campaigns for Paris 2024.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Louise is a member of the coaching advisory board for British Gymnastics, where she supports critical reforms following the Whyte Review. Louise is also a level 3 TeamGym coach, regional judge and has been the welfare officer at her local club.

Fiona Paterson brings over 20 years of experience in the sport and physical activity sector. She has worked in local authorities, governing bodies and now in a physical activity charity, with experience from operational to strategic and from grass roots to performance sport. Fiona has led national initiatives, developing and working through partnerships to grow sport and physical activity opportunities. Fiona always maintains a strong child-focused perspective, ensuring that the needs of young people remain at the heart of her work. Fiona has a particular passion for and experience in creating inclusive opportunities for all regardless of age, ability or personal circumstance.
