Pentland Compete at Rhythmic British Championships 2018
A senior group from Pentland Gymnastics Club were competing at the Rhythmic British Championships in Telford last weekend.
Gymnasts Amy Cockburn-Pitter, Ciara Lindsay, Freya Davie, Gemma Cockburn-Pittner and Robyn Macnaughton qualified at the Group Seedings at Fenton Manor in April.
In the British Championships, the group earned a well-deserved fifth place with five hoops on a score of 7.900. Their score of 8.150 in the 3 Balls & 2 Ropes contributed to their 16.050 total to finish in sixth in the all-around competition.
The senior group’s qualification for the national event highlights the progress of the discipline after ongoing development in Scotland as Ruth Wilson, chair of the technical panel, explained. She said:
“It takes years of commitment, training and dedication to reach this level. To see the girls with this quality of performance and to show what they were capable of was a really proud moment. I would like to add my congratulations to coaches Sarah Uysal and Laura Donaldson and all the Pentland senior group gymnasts for their performance.”
Congratulations to the girls and coaches from Pentland who have worked hard to compete at this level.
