Rhythmic | New NDP British Medallists
Scottish rhythmic gymnasts won a total of six medals at the 2023 British NDP Grades Finals which were held in Stoke on Trent on 3 and 4 June.
A total of 16 gymnasts travelled to represent their clubs at the competition, as well as competing for national medals across the national development plan (NDP) grades five to ten.
In the youngest age group, Milana Brazhinska from Pentland competed in the grade four competition, finishing with a combined score of 29.300 for her rope and free routines.
There was a silver medal in the all-around competition for Mariia Kiriltseva from Beacon at grade five, after scoring 15.000 in the hoop routine, and 13.550 for her clubs routine. Two Pentland gymnasts also competed at this grade, with Railay Ross scoring 24.800 and Zlata Zaikovska finishing with 21.550.
Well done to Beacon’s Cally Wilson and Marianna Kunitsyna who represented their clubs in the grade six competition.
Poppy Kemp (Pentland) finished in seventh place in the grade seven competition, thanks to a combined score of 27.200 across hoop and ball routines.
There was a trio of grade ten medals for Pentland’s Murrin McLean thanks to convincing leads across two of the three apparatus. In Ribbon, she won gold, 2.250 points ahead of her competitors, and also won gold for clubs with a fantastic 19.250, almost 3.000 ahead of second place. The hoop scores were much tighter with Murrin winning bronze with 19.050, and only 0.350 separating the medallists.
Grade nine saw a further two medals, also going to a pentland gymnast, with Annabel Weir winning double silver for her ribbon and hoop routines.
Congratulations to Zalina-Kateryna Volikova (ViSta), Emilie Findlay (Beacon), Orla Arnott (Beacon), Zalina Kubataeva at grade nine, and also to Lucie Findlay (Beacon) who competed at grade eight. Emma Morrison and Darjia Derugina also competed in the competition.
