Scotland Team for 2022 Trampoline, DMT and Tumbling Loulé Cup
Fifteen trampoline, double-mini trampoline and tumbling gymnasts have been selected to represent Scotland at the 15th Loulé Cup in Portugal from 27 to 29 October 2022.
Having sent a delegation to represent Scotland for the first time at the event back in 2019, this is a great opportunity for young gymnasts to compete at an international competition and gain valuable experience for their gymnastics careers.
The last time Scottish gymnasts competed at the event, they returned home with a total of nine medals across all three disciplines. Scottish gymnasts have seen success at the Loulé Cup in previous years where they have attended the event as part of the Great Britain delegation.
John Buist (Flyers) returns for his second Loulé Cup – having competed in 2019. He is joined in the 13-14 age group trampoline competition by Ben Masterton (Two Foot Higher) and Aiden Ward (Sparta Trampoline Club). Dylan Kilfedder (City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club) will compete in the junior trampoline competition.
Scotia clubmates Hannah Brown and Riley Summers will make a return to the Loulé Cup to compete in the junior DMT competition – alongside City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club gymnast Holly Allfrey. Nicholas Smith (Banchory) is the only senior gymnast to be selected for the Scotland team, and will compete in the senior men’s DMT category.
In the FIG 13-14 DMT competition, Lucy Larg from Tay Trampoline Club will be back for her second Loulé Cup appearance with Amber Cameron (Banchory Trampoline and DMT Club) and Zac McFadden (Dynamite) making their international debuts.
Four gymnasts will compete for Scotland in the Tumbling competition. Charlotte McGregor from Kingston Gymnastics Club will compete in the FIG Under 13 category, with Dynamite’s Emily Brown and Sapphire gymnast Heather Hughes competing in the FIG 13-14 age group. In the junior age group, Scotland will be represented by Neve Kehoe (Dynamite)
The gymnasts will be joined in Portugal by a six strong coaching team, as well as two international judges and support team, including Scottish Gymnastics performance manager, Wendy Purdie who will be acting as team manager for the event.
Wendy said: “We are pleased to be sending a strong team of young trampoline, double-mini and tumbling gymnasts to this year’s Loulé Cup in Portugal.”
The hard work and dedication of the gymnasts has shown itself during the trial and in performance camps and we wish the team all the best for the competition in October.
Congratulations to the gymnasts, coaches and support staff selected for the 2022 Loulé Cup. You can follow us on social media for the latest updates from the competition later in the year.
