Scottish Gymnastics Name New Chief Executive Officer
Scottish Gymnastics has today named its new chief executive officer as Doc McKelvey.
Doc joins the organisation from Tennis Scotland where he has been head of development since August 2014. He previously worked for Scottish Rugby in a number of development roles for the governing body and Edinburgh Rugby.
Doc said: “Scottish Gymnastics has seen significant growth over the last number of years and I am privileged to be joining as CEO at this exciting time.
“I am looking forward to working with the team as well as the clubs, volunteers, coaches, officials and gymnasts that make the sport what it is. I am sure that together we can continue the growth and development of all aspects of gymnastics across the country as we move into the next phase of our strategic plan.”
Scott Harper, Chair of the Scottish Gymnastics Board, said: “On behalf of Scottish Gymnastics, I am delighted to welcome Doc to the team. He brings with him a broad range of leadership skills and experience from his different roles and responsibilities in sport in Scotland.
“Doc joins us at the start of the second phase of our 12-year strategy to lead the team which continues to build, evaluate and develop gymnastics with our long-term vision of a strong Scottish Gymnastics, inspiring and nurturing emerging talent.”
Blane Dodds, Tennis Scotland CEO, added: “We are delighted for Doc and wish him the very best in his new role. He has played a significant role with tennis in Scotland during a period of year on year growth. Doc will be a major asset in this leadership role for Scottish Gymnastics over the years to come.”
Doc will join Scottish Gymnastics in September.
