PVG Legislation Change – As of 1 April 2025

It is an offence for an individual to be in a regulated role or participate in training for the role without PVG scheme membership.

From 1 April 2025, all learners in Scotland (member or non-member) must have a PVG disclosure to attend Scottish Gymnastics courses and assessments. Scottish Gymnastics members are not able to book on without a current PVG disclosure on MyBG. You must also have a current PVG disclosure at the time of your assessment or we cannot allow you to attend your assessment and may receive an assessment charge.

Not a Scottish Gymnastics member but live in Scotland: You must complete a ‘PVG scheme membership confirmation form’ before booking on to your course or assessment. You need to submit your PVG scheme number, certificate issue date, who you got your PVG through and who you are coaching with. This may be checked with Disclosure Scotland. If found to be incorrect, we must remove you from the course/assessment and you will not be eligible for a refund.

Not coaching any vulnerable groups (over 18s): You must complete the ‘adult activity coach agreement’ before booking on your course or assessment. If found to be incorrect, we must remove you from the course or assessment and you will not be eligible for a refund.

Learner living out with Scotland: As you are not based in Scotland, you do not require a PVG disclosure to attend this course. You must have the equivalent criminal records check for where you live and work.
