Acrobatic | British Championships and NDP/IDP Regional Final Success
Acrobatic gymnast partnerships and groups from four Scottish clubs competed at the Acrobatic British Championships and NDP/IDP regional team final event over the weekend at the Fenton Manor Sports Complex.
Following a qualification event held at Avondale in October – the selected gymnasts travelled down to the regional final event to represent the Scotland region across the three days of competition.
Senior gymnasts pairings and groups also had the chance to compete at this year’s British Championship event. We would like to congratulate the gymnasts for their performances across the weekend – with a total of 13 medals being awarded to gymnasts from Scotland.
In the NDP/IDP regional final competition, gymnasts competed in the following categories:
– Women’s Pair – Grades 2-5
– Women’s Pair – IDP Level 1
– Women’s Pair – Youth
– Men’s Group – Grade 3
– Women’s Group – Grades 2-5
– Women’s Group – IDP Level 1
– Women’s Group – Youth
In the women’s pair competition – there were strong results for gymnasts representing the region. There were silver medals for the grade three pair, Imara Beattie and Ruby Melville (Acrobay), Kilmarnock pair Ailie Silvinski and Macey Dayer at grade five and also a joint silver medal for Abi McMilan and Zara Wilkosz (East Kilbride) at youth level.
Isla Mayor and Ruby Cunningham narrowly missed out on a medal by 0.093 in the women’s pair grade four contest. In the men’s competition, the group representing the Scotland region in the grade three took the top placing – beating their qualification score by 0.097. Well done to Matthew Sinclair, Adam Broadbent, Dylan Wilson and Callum Fletcher (Acrobay).
When it came to the group competition – we saw success from across the levels. There was a silver medal for grade three women’s group from Acrobay, Poppy Campbell, Clara and Elise Joyce. The Scottish regional team also took home two bronze medals with the grade two group for Mya Hastie, Freya and Pippa Lee (Kilmarnock) and the youth group, Poppy Pain, Rosa Morrison and Belle Temple (Acrobay).
We congratulate the following gymnasts for competing at the competition: Claire Marshall, Eleanor Breach & Neive Sinclair, Isla Gould, Malin Begg & Ffion Smith (Acrobay) – Lauren Mulgrew, Ruby MacNab & Jessica Dickson (Linlithgow).
There were more medals up for grabs in the Acrobatic British Championships contest on the Sunday – with gymnasts from East Kilbride and Dynamic Gymnastics Academy vying for medals.
Scottish pairings took all three podium places in the women’s pair (12-19) category with Anna Tearney and Maia Watt (East Kilbride) winning gold, Hayleigh Patterson and Gemma Russel (Dynamic) taking silver, and Alex Brew and Maisy Lynn securing bronze.
There were top placings in the women’s group (12-19) category too, with East Kilbride’s Neive Ewart, Darcey Irvine & Eve MacFarlane claiming the gold medal, and Dynamic’s Tia Kidd, Emma McConnell & Amy Miller taking second place, just 0.53 point behind.
Emma Logan and Isla Russell from Dynamic won their category – securing a gold medal in the women’s pair (11-17) contest.
