Twenty-one men’s artistic gymnasts competed at the National Elite and Club Development Grades competition in Telford this weekend, securing a team bronze medal in the Club Development Grades at Level One.
It was an exciting weekend for the gymnasts and coaches who had successfully qualified for the regional finals following the home grades open and qualifier competition at Hamilton in September.
The gymnasts competed in Club Development Grades one to four and National Elite Grades one to three. For some, this was their first opportunity to compete at a regional final event, and it was brilliant to see so many finish in the top ten.
A huge well done to the gymnasts who competed at the event, you can read more information about results below.
In the club development grades – level one, the Scottish team won the bronze medal, with a team score of 248.300 with gymnasts from the North West taking second place and the team from the East Midlands winning gold.
At this level, Ramsay Milroy from Stenhousemuir narrowly missed out on an individual medal by just 0.250 – giving him an overall fourth place finish. He was joined in the team competition by Leon McCulloch from Lasswade, Meadowbank’s Findlay Raeburn, Jude Buchanan and Theo Adams (West Lothian) and Rory Coyle (Hamilton) – pictured above.
At level two, there was a sixth-place finish for Maesyn Stewart from Lasswade, as well as good performances from Joey Blair (West Lothian) and Matthew McLaughlin (Hamilton).

Shona Grigor, pathway coordinator on the Scottish Gymnastics Men’s Artistic Technical Committee said: “After two years away from national competitions, it was a fantastic experience to see so many gymnasts as part of the regional team."
Over the course of the weekend, all gymnasts showed great determination within their routines and also some stylish gymnastics, showing that the hard work is paying off.
