Brash Qualifies For Commonwealth Individual All-Around Final
Rhythmic gymnast Lauren Brash has qualified for the Individual All Around Final (tomorrow, Friday), following in the footsteps of teammate Vicky Clow who made the Individual All Around final in Delhi 2010.
While the team missed out on success there was joy in the individual competition. 15 year old Lauren Brash from West Lothian seemed to revel on the big stage in front of the huge home crowd producing four excellent routines (Ball, 11.200, Hoop,11.300, Ribbon, 11.800 & Clubs 12.450).
Lauren dazzled the crowd with a variety of beautiful routines. Her final performance (clubs), and the last routine of the full competition, was choreographed to "Donald Where's Your Troosers". She didn't fail to impress, delivering an outstanding routine. The display capped off an excellent performance by the teenager, bringing her overall total for the competition to 46.750 and qualifying for tomorrows Individual All Around Final in 15th place.
Unfortunately Lauren's team mates did not qualify for the final however both can be proud of their performances, producing good routines to the delight of the home crowd.
Beacon gymnast Rebecca Bee had a day of both highs and lows. The highlight of her competition being a strong hoop routine, scoring 11.325, which she was visibly happy with. However, it wasn't to be in the individual competition, finishing 25th with a score of 40.850.
Vicky Clow from Pentland Rhythmic finished 27th with a score of 40.500. The highlight of her competition was a brilliant hoop routine accompanied by the music "Shout" by Lulu, which certainly impressed the crowd who responded with a rapturous applause.
The Scottish rhythmic team can be proud of their achievements. A number of brilliant routines ensured the team finished 2 places ahead of the last rhythmic team to represent Scotland at a Commonwealth Games, finishing 9th at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpar.
