Gary Tolometti Joins British Gymnastics Board
We're delighted to announce that Gary Tolometti has been appointed onto the Board of British Gymnastics, as a non-executive member, nominated by Scottish Gymnastics.
Gary, who has been the Chair of Trustees at Garioch Gymnastics Club since 2016, has played a key role in the development of a new gymnastics facility as well as developing new strategic business goals for the club.
With a background serving as a senior officer in the RAF, specialising in leadership and command training – he has gone on to take up several roles with a wide range of experience across programme management, leadership development, operations and resource management. Gary's involvement in sport began as a qualified rugby union coach and referee, and is a parent to a former Commonwealth Games gymnast.
Speaking about his appointment, Gary said: "I am very excited to be appointed on to the Board of British Gymnastics as the nominee for Scotland. I have a wealth of experience in both government and commercial sectors and a grassroots understanding of the gymnastics landscape in Scotland and Britain."
He added: "I hope to bring to bear all my knowledge gained through my experiences together with my real experiences as a gymnastics parent to add real value to British Gymnastics."
Gary currently works in the NHS championing his work on staff engagement, compassionate leadership, inclusivity, and health and wellbeing. He continued:
I’m keen to support the work being undertaken around equality, diversity and inclusion, to ensure everyone is welcome in our sport. I am looking forward with great anticipation to this new challenge at such a crucial time for gymnastics.
Gary joins the Board alongside Tracey Singlehurt-Ward, who has also been appointed with a nomination from Welsh Gymnastics.
Sarah Powell, British Gymnastics Chief Executive, said: "It’s great to have both Gary and Tracey join the Board at what continues to be a vital time for the sport."
They both have experience that we can really draw upon, both inside and outside gymnastics, and we know that their appointments will continue to help our strong relations with the home nations.
Sarah continued: “Gary and Tracey's insight and knowledge will play a vital role in helping us shape and deliver our new long-term strategy and to address the recommendations from the Whyte Review. With the implementation of our new strategy also a priority, both Gary and Tracey will play a crucial role over the coming months and years.”
