What are some of your favourite Gymfest memories?
In 2010 it was an amazing discovery to find out that Scottish Gymnastics had used our final pose photograph on the cover of the Gymfest Programme. We were not aware of this until we purchased a copy. It was a truly fantastic moment to see the gymnasts on the cover.
It was held in Inverness for six years I believe and we went to this most years. At the time my daughter was a rhythmic gymnast and performed in Inverness as well as quite a few other venues. It was also a brilliant time for us when we found ourselves in a promotional video at Ravenscraig filmed in 2024. We have noticed it in more of these videos and its really exciting for our Gymnasts as we are such a small club at the very north of the Country.
Often over the years when we had time Tony used to fill in by asking us to coach him some Rhythmic Gymnastics. I have attached a photo of him in action in 2017 in Aberdeen with our gymnast Catriona performing a cartwheel together whilst inside a hoop. I had such fun commentating whilst they were doing it.
What is your favourite Gymfest routine you have ever seen?
As I am a Rhythmic Gymnastics coach, still my very favourite (that I can recall) is from a team that joined us from Greece in 2011 Called Olympiada – Dream Team. It was the first time I had seen a Rhythmic Team from overseas at Gymfest. I still have the DVD!
Other than that I have seen many fantastic routines.
