Rhythmic Scottish Open Championships and Level 1 and Level 2 Competition
It was a busy weekend of Rhythmic gymnastics last weekend when both the Scottish Open Championships and the Scottish Open level 1 and 2 competitions were held at EN(Gage) in Edinburgh.
The level 4 competition saw Beacon Rhythmic gymnast Louise Christie (pictured right) retain the Scottish Senior title with a total score of 27.800. Three gymnasts then went on to win their Scottish Championship as well as their Open classification. Emma Anderson of West Lothian took the Under 11 and Open Championship with 11.750 while Jasmin Brody, of Beacon Rhythmic, was the Under 12 Champion as well as taking the Open classification too on a score of 12.900. In a hotly contested Junior competition Amy Lewis (pictured below) took the respective titles with total of 20.450.
The Beacon group of Gabby Giles, Lucy Nicol, Cara Paterson and Abbi Reid took the Level 3 Scottish and Open Espoir Championship with a great score of 10.500. Their Beacon clubmate Amber Brody went on to take the level 3 Junior competition in both the Scottish and Open classifications with a score of 11.100. Sienna Stewart and Abbi Reid, both also of Beacon, went on to take their respective Championships with Sienna scoring 9.850 to take the Under 12 title while Abbi took the Under 11 title on a score of 8.950. The Under 10 Championship was won by West Lothian Rhythmic Gymnastics Club’s Aurelia Pastuszka who took the gold medal on 11.350.
Sunday saw the Level 1 and Level 2 gymnasts take to the floor where it was encouraging to see many new partnerships and around 50 gymnasts competing in the Scottish Open throughout the individual, duo and trio classifications.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the weekend a success and congratulations to all the gymnasts, parents and coaches on your success during the competition.
