Three Gymnasts Earn British Championship Titles
Three Scottish gymnasts are celebrating after becoming British champions at the Trampoline Tumble and DMT British Championships in Birmingham yesterday (Sunday 23 September).
Kim Beattie (pictured with coach Melanie Stewart Wills) from Banchory Trampoline & DMT Club claimed the British title and gold medal in the Senior Women’s Elite Level DMT competition on 134.200. Kim’s victory was more notable, given her preparations for the championships weren’t ideal. She said:
"It's been such a tough year, I've battled through injury, I've lost some skills, it's just been really tough, so to finish the season off like this is just amazing. I was just amazed, I just started crying!"
Just behind Kim was Caitlin O’Brien from City of Edinburgh Trampoline Club who earnt the bronze medal with 131.200.
Two Foot Higher’s Fraser McLeod earnt the British title on the DMT in the 15-16 Men’s age group, for an impressive fourth consecutive year.
In trampolining Keir Davidson (pictured right) from Tiggers Trampoline Club won the gold medal and the British Champion title in the Men’s 11-12 age category on a final score of 141.600.
Gymnasts from Scotland also had medal success in tumbling with Skye McNicol from Dynamite, she earnt second place on 91.900, Demi Adams (Sapphire Gymnastics Club) won the bronze medal with 93.00 and in the Women’s 15-16 age group and Sophie Campbell also won bronze in the Women’s 11-12 age category on a score of 91.00.
Banchory’s Ava Fettes claimed the bronze medal in the Women’s 11-12 age group on the DMT with 124.100 while Lucy Larg (Flyers Trampoline Club) also won bronze in the age 9-10 categroy on 119.500.
