Leadership | Alvah Gymteam
A number of Alvah Gymteam members have completed the Scottish Gymnastics Leadership Award course. The course helps them become potential coaches of the future by appropriately equipping them with the leadership skills they need.
The gymnasts recently completed the two-day course, which can be done in smaller sessions and partially online. They received high praise from Mary West – Alvah’s head coach – as did the course itself.
“We feel that the Leadership Award course is a really important step for our young gymnasts. This is why we offer all of our over-12s the chance to get involved and start their journey towards coaching. It gives them a great opportunity to take their first steps towards a future coaching qualification, while also learning how to support and lead others in the gym.
“During the course, gymnasts grew in confidence, learned to speak up, and developed skills that helped them communicate clearly and positively with both coaches and fellow gymnasts. It encouraged them to take on responsibility, share what they know, and believe in themselves. These skills are just as valuable in everyday life as they are in the gym.”
