Earlier this year we asked members to have their say in a nationwide gymnastics survey. Thank you to those who shared their views on what matters to you, what makes a great experience in gymnastics and the behaviours you want to see across our sport.
We are now pleased to let you know about the next steps and how you can be involved in helping us Shape our Future.
Scottish Gymnastics members have been emailed details of a number of online consultation sessions that we will be hosting to give you the opportunity to share your views. Please check your email for more information on how you can attend.
We are developing a new vision and strategy for the sport, with a clear focus on the environment and culture we all want for gymnastics in Scotland and the UK.
We are working in close partnership with British Gymnastics, Welsh Gymnastics, English Gymnastics and Gymnastics Northern Ireland to create a strategy for the sport across the UK. This will help us build on the good things happening in the sport already, but also drive change and reform where it is needed.
We have heard what matters to you, what influences great experiences in gymnastics and the behaviours you want everyone to experience. We are in advanced stages of summarising the recurring themes from the UK survey and other sources and will share these with you soon. These insights will inform our thinking, understanding and our actions. We remain committed to the findings of our own independent review as well as the Whyte Review and doing what is right for the good of the sport.
We will go through four stages and follow a clear set of principles to achieve this.
Scottish Gymnastics pledged to lead the change in culture in our sport earlier this year. We have committed to improving our current way of working, embedding wellbeing and protection in everything we do, and to identifying values which determine who we are and what you can confidently expect of us as a governing body.
The Covid-19 pandemic has been tough for everyone over the last 20 months and gymnastics has also been in the spotlight globally. We believe this is the right time to Shape our Future through a new strategy for Scotland and for gymnastics throughout the UK.
We hope you will continue to be part of this gymnastics evolution as together we identify our values, culture, and new strategy for Scotland and for gymnastics across the UK.
