Who can attend this course:

Learners who attended the course the assessment was scheduled for or learners who still have their assessment outstanding in the following courses:

  • Trampoline Level 1 & 2

The learners attending the course will have prioritised slots. Any additional slots will be allocated to learners who have booked on on a first come first serve basis, with consideration to the discipline and level for the assessor.

PVG Legislation Requirements:

It is an offence for an individual to be in a regulated role or participate in training for the role without PVG scheme membership.

From 1 April 2025, all learners deployed in Scotland (member or non-member) must have a PVG disclosure to attend Scottish Gymnastics assessments. You must have a current PVG disclosure on your record at the time of booking your assessment or we cannot allow you to attend and may receive an assessment charge.

Not a Scottish Gymnastics member but live in Scotland: You must complete a ‘PVG scheme membership confirmation form’ before booking on to your assessment. You need to submit your PVG scheme number, certificate issue date, who you got your PVG through and who you are coaching with. This may be checked with Disclosure Scotland. If found to be incorrect, we must remove you from the assessment and you may receive an assessment charge.

Not coaching any vulnerable groups (over 18s): You must complete the ‘adult activity coach agreement’ before booking on your assessment. If found to be incorrect, we must remove you from the assessment and you may receive an assessment charge.

Learner living out with Scotland: As you are not based in Scotland, you do not require a PVG disclosure to attend this course. You must have the equivalent criminal records check for where you live and work.

Demonstrator requirements:

Level 1 & 2:  You must be able to bring two or three demonstrators (acrobatic require 3 or 4) of the relevant standard to your assessment

Level 3 Technical Modules: Learners must bring two or three gymnasts (acrobatic require 3 or 4), who they have spent time with developing the required level 3 skills. Gymnasts can be at varying levels in the skill development process and you should be able to show the planned physical preparation and progressions. At least one gymnast must be able to perform the whole skill with support for your assessment.

Level 1 and 2

eLearning Activities:

You must have completed the online activities in the Academy before attending your assessment. If you have not fully completed your eLearning you will not receive your credential.

Logbook:

Make sure you have completed the Scottish version of the logbook. This differs from the British version on the GymNET academy as the qualification is aligned to the SQA Scottish Coaching Certificate. If you are unsure, please contact coacheducation@scottishgymnastics.org.

Level 1

  • If day 1 of course was before 1 June 2024: Your logbook must be posted or emailed to your assessor, so they receive it two weeks before your assessment date.
  • If day 1 of course was after 1 June 2024: Your logbook must be submitted through the Academy two weeks before your assessment date.

If you do not there is an assessment charge for late submission of logbook.

Level 2

Please note that your logbook will be returned to the Scottish Gymnastics office by your assessor after your successful completion of your assessment.

  • Take a copy of your logbook before posting or emailing to your assessor and get a proof of postage certificate. This will allow you to keep a copy of your logbook for your records. A copy would also need to be provided in the unfortunate event of the logbook being lost in the post.
  • Your logbook must be received by your assessor two weeks before your assessment date.
    • Only the original logbook section of your folder is required as well as any additional sheets you have used.
    • Logbooks received after the deadline will incur a late logbook fee.
    • Do NOT send this via recorded or special delivery.

Skills Matrix Box

You will be allocated your skill matrix box in your assessment confirmation letter and can find the information within the academy or on the Scottish Gymnastics website.  You must complete your assessment plan for all skills within the skills matrix box and your assessor will select the skills for your assessment on the day.

Level 3 Technical Modules Evidence:

Please bring the relevant technical module sign-off sheet, a lesson plan, training plans and evaluation documentation, and appropriate gymnasts. Please see Learner Guidance for level 3 assessment document in your academy for more information.

Coaching within as Scottish Gymnastics member club:

You must have a PVG disclosure record linked to Scottish Gymnastics and have a current Scottish Gymnastics wellbeing & protection award before starting to work within your club. If you need any assistance, please contact your club’s safeguarding officer or safeguarding@scottishgymnastics.org.

British Gymnastic Foundation Safeguarding and Safeguarding Children in Gymnastics are not recognised safeguarding awards in Scotland. Please complete a Scottish Gymnastics wellbeing & protection award.

For your level 2 credential to be active and for you to be able to coach in your club, you must also complete the positive coaching eLearning module and the Best Practice in Flexibility Training eLearning modules.
