Women’s Artistic | British Championships 2021
Last weekend, gymnasts from three Scottish clubs joined some of the UK’s best competitors as they returned to Guildford for the Women’s Artistic British Championship 2021.
The competition saw an exciting battle for the top titles, with a new all-around champion being crowned. Ondine Achampong from Aylesbury performed strongly – with an almost three point lead in the all-around, as well as winning a number of the individual apparatus medals.
Scottish gymnasts at the event also performed well, with Milli De O’Hara (Dynamic Gymnastics Academy) competing in the junior category, and finishing in 20th place in the all-around.
Dynamic teammate, Ellie Patrick (pictured above) built on her recent appearance at the Northern European Championships – claiming a 10th place finish in the senior all-around. She also finished in the top ten in the vault, uneven bars and floor contests.
We saw City of Glasgow gymnasts, Cara Kennedy, Crystelle Lake and Eilidh Gorrell compete in the senior competition. There were strong results for Crystelle on balance beam, finishing in sixth place with a score of 11.750, as well as a seventh place finish on floor for Cara with a score of 11.980.
Dundee gymnast, and Northern European Championship all-around gold medallist Emily Bremner did not compete in the all-around but instead focussed on bars and beam, ending the day in 10th and 12th respectively.
We would like to congratulate the gymnasts for their performances and hope to see them back in action at next year’s Scottish National Artistic Gymnastics Championships at Bell’s Sports Centre in February.
